Hendrickson Hatch 4/18/10

Met up for an afternoon/evening of dry flying with Jessie Hollenbeck. We got to the river right on schedule with the Hendrickson duns, and took a few on top in the first few minutes. Got a surprise visit from another friend Ian Yorkston a little later, but unfortunately the wind picked up, and the temperature dropped fast. Spinners didn't show up like we hoped, but we still got a couple more takers throughout the evening.

Hendrickson Hatch 4/13/10

Spring is here! My good friend Brian and I took the kids to our local inland stream the other day. As soon as our boots hit the water there were bugs visible and fish rising. Hendrickson duns, and smaller BWO spinners were the mayflies, and the fish were on the Hendricksons. It was warm, sunny, and just an all around awesome day to be on the water...

Brook Trout Trip 4/11/10

Went on a brook trout trip in Northern NY this weekend. The water was perfect, and the weather cooperated. All brookies caught on big dries and released...

Early start as usual, you know what they say...

Tool for the day.

Dry flies and native brook trout... perfect.

Even had a blue wing sighting.

Giving the Tribs a Break 4/8/10

After a couple days of heavy rain I decided it would be better to head inland, and let the bigger lake tributaries settle out a little. The weather was forecasted to have cool temps and more rain, but it ended up being in the 60's and bright sun most of the day! I enjoyed the warm sunlight, and the fish enjoyed dining on a variety of tiny midge patterns...

Rainy start.

Nice brown finally giving up.

Proof of reproduction!

Nice one of the day.

Weekday Hunt for Steel 4/1/10

It was opening day for all the NY trout streams so the tribs were untouched as I arrived early in the AM. Later that morning I met up with Brian and his son Ethan. It turned out to be a hot day with temps in the mid 70's and lots of sun.

Bonus brown getting it's chrome back.
